Domremy College was part of the attempt at setting a Guinness World Record for the Most People Stargazing Across Multiple Venues on Wednesday 23 May.

The College’s Science Department hosted a Star Party as part of the ABC and Australian National University’s Guinness World Record attempt for the Most People Stargazing Across Multiple Venues. Participants at the College successfully stargazed at the Moon through a telescope or binoculars for a 10 minute period with other people simultaneously across multiple sites throughout Australia, all trying to set a new record.

The evening was filled with fun and excitement with the Star Party being held on the College’s campus with a live broadcast of the Brian Cox Stargazing Live on the ABC streamed in the Brenda Quinn Hall.

The World Record attempt - looking at the moon through telescopes and binoculars - took place during the broadcast between 8pm and 9pm.

The College had an amazing response to the event. Participants had to register for the event and the College had well over 150 eager participants who braved the cold for the attempt to set a new record.
