As we prepare to welcome back all of our students this Term, who we have missed terribly throughout Term 3, we look back on some of the lockdown measures employed to bring some joy, fun, variety and cheer to their lockdown learning.
Care packages mailed to each student to let them know we are thinking of them; Year 12 Drive-by to collect learning resources and Care packs; Click ‘n Collects, including for Year 8 Visual Arts materials; Live Zoom workouts with Ms Carroll each week; At-home TAS cooking challenges; UberArts deliveries by staff for Year 7 students; Year 8, 9 and 10 science experiments from makeshift home laboratories.
The student Care packages generated a huge number of ‘thank you’ notes, showing the fabulous Domremy culture, with gratitude front and centre! Here is just one:
“Dear Mrs McGahan, We want to express our gratitude for everything you have done for the Domremy community over the past term. You have dealt with this difficult situation in a very professional way, but you have also done it in a thoughtful way. Your daily emails, care packages and kind words constantly remind us that you are there for us. You have also taken on our opinions and feedback, making us feel heard. Running a school is not easy, let alone during a time like this. Especially since this is your first year at Domremy. Nevertheless, you have done a wonderful job and I know that we are all looking forward to seeing you when we return to school. This year probably hasn’t been the welcome you expected, but we hope you know that you are welcomed and appreciated in this community. On behalf of all the Domremy community, thank you” Sophia (Year 9)
